Formula & Version
This calculator uses formula version 1.0, last reviewed September 2026.
Clinical Considerations & Limitations
- Validated for non-Hispanic White and Black adults aged 40-79 without prior ASCVD; performs less well in other race/ethnicity groups, and this tool falls back to White coefficients for "Other" as an approximation only.
- Newer pooled-cohort recalibrations (e.g. AHA PREVENT 2023) exist and may be preferred going forward.
- Coefficients independently re-verified against the 2013 ACC/AHA Pooled Cohort Equations (Goff 2014, Circulation supplemental Table A) during the STEP 4 QA review — all four sex/race coefficient sets match exactly.
