IDEXX Laboratories has introduced the Catalyst proBNP Test, the first dual-species in-clinic NT-proBNP test, giving veterinarians rapid cardiac disease results for both cats and dogs.
IDEXX Laboratories has launched the Catalyst™ proBNP Test, described as the first and only dual-species, in-clinic test for NT-proBNP, a well-established biomarker used to assess heart disease in companion animals. The launch extends IDEXX's Catalyst point-of-care platform into cardiac diagnostics for the first time.
Heart disease affects an estimated one in six cats and one in ten dogs but is often underassessed in general veterinary practice. The new test delivers quantitative NT-proBNP results within minutes rather than the days typically required when samples are sent to an outside laboratory, allowing veterinarians to make treatment decisions during the same visit. Results integrate directly into IDEXX's VetConnect™ PLUS platform alongside a patient's broader diagnostic history, with built-in interpretive guidance.
The Catalyst proBNP Test is set to become available in North America starting in October 2026, with international markets to follow, further building out IDEXX's expanding portfolio of in-clinic diagnostic tools.
