Canon Medical Systems has introduced CLEAR Motion, a deep learning motion-correction technology for cardiac CT, and PIQE 1024 Matrix Deep Learning Reconstruction for its Aquilion Serve SP scanner, aiming to sharpen image quality without added radiation dose.
Canon Medical Systems has announced two new artificial-intelligence reconstruction technologies for its computed tomography line, expanding deep learning capabilities across the Aquilion ONE premium portfolio and the Aquilion Serve SP workhorse scanner. The company framed the additions as part of an ongoing effort to improve diagnostic confidence in complex cardiothoracic cases while keeping radiation exposure low.
CLEAR Motion applies deep learning-based motion correction directly to raw projection data, targeting blur caused by cardiac and patient movement without requiring changes to scan protocols or higher dose. Canon says the technology supports an effective temporal resolution of roughly 15.8 milliseconds for cardiac imaging. The second technology, PIQE 1024 Matrix Deep Learning Reconstruction, was trained on 0.25 mm ultra-high-resolution data to produce super-resolution images that Canon says can approach the signal-to-noise performance of photon-counting CT for small, high-contrast structures.
The technologies were introduced on July 7, 2026. Canon positioned both as ways to broaden access to high-quality imaging on existing installed systems, with clinical commentary from radiologists noting that reconstruction advances have been central to recent progress in cardiac CT.
