VELscope Mantis Advanced Oral Screening Device to Launch on June 30
LED Dental has announced the launch of the VELscope Mantis, the latest generation of its oral mucosal screening technology, with commercial availability beginning June 30, 2026. The new device is designed to assist dental professionals in identifying subtle tissue abnormalities through enhanced visualization capabilities.
According to the company, the VELscope Mantis combines three visualization modes—blue-light fluorescence, polarized white-light reflectance, and traditional white-light illumination—within a single cordless, rechargeable handpiece. The platform also features a wider field of view, enhanced image filtering, and integrated iPhone-based photo documentation to support clinical workflows and patient communication.
Wayne Rees, Chief Executive Officer of LED Dental, said the device is intended to provide clinicians with additional tools to visualize tissue changes that may warrant further investigation. He noted that the technology is designed to complement, rather than replace, clinical judgment during oral examinations.
The company stated that the VELscope Mantis builds on its existing oral screening platform and is aimed at supporting earlier identification of potential oral mucosal abnormalities. The device will be available through LED Dental’s authorized distributor network across North America, with pre-orders already open.
LED Dental also announced that each system will include access to a complimentary continuing education program covering device operation, clinical interpretation, and workflow integration.
